JASPER VALLEY
SWIM TEAM
The Jasper Valley Swim Team
is a competitive swim team for children 19 years and younger. The team is a member of the Granite State Swimming
Association (GSSA). The team has proven to be fun for members and provide a rich and fulfilling experience for all.
Since 2000, the team has grown to over 120 members of all ages. The team has won the GSSA Division Two Championship
in 1994, and most recently in 2002 and 2004. They have also won the Milford Rotary swim meet in 2003 and 2004. The
purpose of the team is to provide summer recreation for young members who enjoy competitive swimming and want to
improve endurance and strokes while competing in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Swimmers will have the opportunity
to compete individually and as part of relay teams within their age group, as well as being a part of the entire
team.
The coaches attend practices and meets, confirm meet schedules, keep complete rosters, and keep track of swimmers'
attendance, progress, and performances. The coaches work on stroke technique and refinement through drills, as well
as overall endurance. Starts, turns, and finishes are also taught and/or honed. The coaches will also look to improve team
unity and morale, as well as encourage and inspire them to learn good sportsmanship. It is the coaches wish that
swimmers will understand the efforts required to reach their individual goals.
SWIMMING COACHES
HEAD COACH - Brian Crawford: Brian has been involved in
competitive swimming both as a swimmer and coach for over 20 years. He is a former high school state champion in the butterfly and still competes in
Masters competitions today as a member of New England Masters Swim Club. Brian became the Head Coach Jasper in 2000 and also works as the Assistant Manager.
He has coached summer teams, high school, and other USS teams while developing many of the area's youth. Brian is a coach member of United States Swimming
and American Swim Coaches of America. "Swimming is a life long sport, and one that teaches you self-discipline and time management, as well as providing
much personal satisfaction." He hopes that his swimmers will take their experiences into everyday life and adulthood.
